DRAWING CLASSES

We run the following Drawing Classes:

 

It is recommended that you have completed the Drawing Skills Workshop first, and learnt the fundamentals in drawing, in order to get the best out of the Drawing Class.

CREATIVE CHARACTERS (Prep - Grade 2)

This 2-hour Class is a fun introduction to Drawing for Prep - Grade 2. The kids will learn how to draw their own characters by using a range of shapes,. They will learn how and where to add detail and expressions using lines and shapes in order to bring their characters to life!

What's provided?

All materials and tuition are provided!

What do I need to bring?

You may like to bring your own coloured pencils, although we will provide some for use on the day.

Please also bring along some morning/afternoon tea and a drink.

 

Price

The cost of the session is $50 per child and includes all tuition and materials.

Creative Characters

DRAWING SKILLS WORKSHOPS (Grade 3+)

 

The 3-hour Drawing Skills Workshops are designed to be an introduction to various drawing skills that can be used to create your own masterpieces at home. They are suitable for children in Grades 3 and above (including Adults).

 

During the Workshops, students will be taught the following, with plenty of opportunity to practice what they have learnt:

  • Different values of pencils and how to use them

  • Shading using various lead pencils (2H, HB, 2B, 4B, 6B)

  • Drawing simple 3D shapes and forms

  • Proportions and tips on getting accuracy when copying

  • Perspective and depth in drawings

  • Observational drawing tips

  • Shading techniques such as hatching and cross hatching used in illustrations

  • Blending rules using coloured pencils.

What’s provided?

Included as part of the session price, you will also receive on arrival:

  • An A4 Visual Diary (Sketchbook) to work in, and take away at the end;

  • Your own set of shading pencils that includes various grades and also a black felt tip pen. You will use these during the Workshop and you can then take them home at the end to continue to practice with.

 

What do I need to bring?

You may like to bring your own coloured pencils, although we will provide some for use on the day.

 

It would be a great idea to bring along a specific picture that you may like to learn how to sketch, and we can provide tips on how to go about drawing it. It is unlikely that there will be sufficient time to complete the drawing in this workshop, though, however the Drawing Classes cater for this.

 

Please also bring along some morning/afternoon tea and a drink. A shared fruit platter will also be provided.

The cost of the session is $85 per child and includes all tuition and materials.

DRAWING CLASSES (Grade 3+)

The 3-hour Drawing Classes are designed for students who have ideas or images/objects that they would like to draw and would like specialist guidance, and be stepped through the process, to complete it in the class. They are suitable for students in Grades 3 and above (including Adults) who have already completed the Drawing Skills Workshop. 

 

What’s provided?

All tuition, use of colour pencils, and any additional artist specific papers, copic markers and other materials required to complete the specific drawing.

 

What do I need to bring?

The materials that you received from your Drawing Skills Workshop such as your A4 Visual Diary (Sketchbook) to work in, your set of shading pencils that includes various grades and also your black felt tip pen. You will use these during the class.

Please note if you have not attended the Drawing Skills Workshop you can purchase the above materials for an additional $13.

 

You will also need to bring the specific picture/object that you would like to learn how to draw.

 

Please also bring along some morning/afternoon tea and a drink. A shared fruit platter will also be provided.

The cost of the session is $70 per child and includes all tuition and any use of materials, other than those required above.

CHARCOAL AND SOFT PASTEL WORKSHOPS​ (Grade 3+)

The 3-hour Charcoal and Soft Pastel Workshops are suitable for students in Grades 3 and above (including Adults). During the Workshop, students will be taught the following, with plenty of opportunity to practice what they have learnt:

  • Shading using various types of charcoal and conte sticks

  • Drawing on various coloured papers

  • Observational drawing from the natural surroundings

  • Blending colours using soft pastels, including colour theory, tips and tricks

  • Complete a final silhouette soft pastel landscape. (you can bring your own or choose one from our selection).

 

What’s provided?

  • All materials will be provided

 

What do I need to bring?

If you have a particular silhouette artwork that you would like to reproduce as a final soft pastel drawing, you are welcome to bring along a printout. Otherwise we will have plenty of options to select from.
